Property maintenance and heating specialist Integral has won a major new contract with the country's largest operator of secure mental health facilities.

The contract will see the Bristol firm provide full heating, ventilation and air conditioning services for Partnerships in Care's national portfolio of 30 properties, which includes 20 hospitals, training centres and community facilities.

Partnerships in Care has over 20 years' experience caring for men and women with complex mental health needs, employing 2,000-plus staff and with an annual turnover of more than Pounds 150 million.

Business development manager Mark Whittaker said: "Partnerships in Care is already a major customer for our Fire Division and I am thrilled with this opportunity to extend our range of services to them.

"I believe several factors assisted Integral UK in securing this contract, including our national capability, combined with the personal attention we devote to our client relationships and our extensive experience within the health sector."

As well as providing the planned maintenance service through their network of 15 regional offices, Integral will also be providing a round-the-clock helpdesk and reactive maintenance service.

The mnemonic is ?L.E.A.D.E.R.S? and each

The mnemonic is ?L.E.A.D.E.R.S? and each of these letters represents an essential step. While I have simplified the elements of leadership into seven words, the essence of my message is that being an effective, peak-performance work leader is simple, but not easy.

The responsibility of being an effective work leader is much more important than being an effective ?manager?. Every effective manager leads first, and manages second. In my lexicon, there are two things the ?person in charge of an organizational unit? does: the first is to lead the people; the second is to administer the processes that make up the work. I call this administrative activity the mechanics of managing?these are the activities of planning, organizing, controlling, report writing, etc., and of course the implementation of the technical work of the unit. These are critical activities and can never be ignored, but in my experience those managers who focus the preponderance of their time on the mechanics, ultimately do not succeed. They may achieve short term results, but they usually fail over time.

That which is done ?to and for? the people makes a work leader a long-term success, not what he or she does to administer the mechanics.

Ambulance crash witnesses sought

Ambulance crash witnesses sought

0 Comments | Florida Times Union, Dec 1, 2009

Investigators are hoping to talk with witnesses of a crash involving an ambulance and pickup truck that left two people dead and five critically injured near The Avenues mall Sunday.

Megan Elizabeth Bunn, 18, of St. Augustine died in the 8:20 p.m. accident, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Bunn was in a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Michael Jason Linder, 19. Authorities said late Monday that Linder had died after being taken to Shands Jacksonville with critical injuries. Three other passengers in the pickup suffered serious or critical injuries - Shyenne A. Morgan, 17, Jonathan D. Rasnick, 28, and Cameron M. Waddington, 18, all of Jacksonville.

No one in the pickup was wearing a seat belt, the Highway Patrol said.

Liberty Ambulance driver Brian Wayne Gray, 25, of Jacksonville was in serious condition, the FHP said. Julie Kathryn Raymer of Green Cove Springs, a 44-year-old passenger in the ambulance, was also in serious condition. Both were wearing seat belts.

Lt. Bill Leeper of the Florida Highway Patrol said the ambulance had just dropped off a patient at a hospice facility and was returning to its business address when the accident occurred. The ambulance did not have its emergency equipment on.

The ambulance driver told investigators he was southbound on Philips Highway and had stopped at a red light at the northbound entrance to Interstate 95. The driver said the light changed to a green arrow and he turned at the same time as the northbound pickup entered the intersection. The front of the pickup hit the right front of the ambulance, the Highway Patrol said.

No charges have been filed. Any witnesses should call Cpl

Surprisingly, email marketing is often a catalyst for web users to go and make a purchase offline. When surveyed, 59% of email users said that they have made a purchase offline after receiving an email promotion.

Why? Sometimes a user will find something they want online but they need it straight away and can't afford to wait for delivery.

If you are

If you are an owner or manager who appreciates customers? needs for fast, up-to-date service, you may want to learn more about a restaurant merchant account.

Restaurant merchant accounts help owners to provide the latest technology to their clientele. We all know of restaurants that don?t accept credit cards, and when we?re in a hurry or low on cash, we avoid such places. But other eateries, from fast food to fine dining, are increasingly choosing to implement credit card payment options, electronic check processing, and even wireless payment processing for merchants on the go who deliver food at home or to businesses and public places for special occasions.

Adults smoking in cars with kids should be fined

Adults smoking in cars with kids should be fined

0 Comments | Morning Sentinel; Waterville, Me., May 30, 2010

I just finished reading about how the candidates for governor won't or (don't want to) raise taxes. We are all for that, but we still need more revenue.

I thought Gov. John Baldacci, some time ago, signed into law that no one is supposed to smoke cigarettes in the presence of children in a vehicle. I think an officer of the law should sit in the parking lots of local stores or, better yet, schools (which I might add are no smoking zones to being with). If that police officer fined every adult who steps out of a vehicle, cigarette in hand and children in tow, in the amount of $25 or more, we would really make up that revenue quite quick

Police guard of honour at city councillor's funeral service

Police guard of honour at city councillor's funeral service

0 Comments | Daily Post; Liverpool (UK), Jul 28, 2010 | by Marc Waddington

HUNDREDS of mourners turned out to celebrate the life of late Liverpool councillor Rose Bailey.

Cllr Bailey, who died of a massive heart attack while visiting her son in Germany, was laid to rest at a moving ceremony at Liverpool's Catholic Cathedral.

Merseyside Police, in full dress uniform, formed a guard of honour in recognition of the Croxteth councillor's 10 years on the police authority.

Friends, family and council colleagues from both sides of the political divide attended the funeral, which was conducted by her local parish priest Father Kenny Hyde.

He paid tribute to Cllr Bailey's tireless campaigning on behalf of her ward. In 2007, when the media descended on Croxteth following the murder of schoolboy Rhys Jones, Cllr Bailey fiercely defended the area in the face of speculation about gang culture and gun crime. Father Hyde said: "Rose influenced many of us here.

"Not just her family, but many of us here and in the city. She was the best type of citizen, inspired by her faith and bringing her faith and public office together in harmony
